A well-made ghost story - What Lies Beneath Reviews
Overall, I thought this was an excellent ghost story, with some very clever plot innovations and a story that is exciting without being contrived.
The tension is gradually built up from the start with events at the beginning which could be dismissed as mere co-incidence, but which still leave the viewer asking 'but what if...' The 'jumpy' aspect of the film adds to the thrill of watching it.
Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer are perfect for this film, and play their parts well.
The parts when we actually see the ghost are genuinely frightening, and stay with you long after the film has ended.
The twist ending is totally unexpected, and is a perfect climax to a carefully crafted film.
