Michelle pfeiffer is outstanding - What Lies Beneath Reviews

Once again, in a year of blockbusters and over-the-top acting, we get a more toned down horror film that relies on it's actors to tell a story. In this case, Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer, argubaley the two most popular screen actors of their day. Ford has the "Indiana Jones" and "Fugitive" movies to make his case, while Pfeiffer has "Batman Returns", "The Fabulous Baker Boys" and "The Age of Innocence" to prove she is a top player. Both play characters of total realistic solitude. A recently married couple who send her daughter off to college and settle down in their summer home. But Pfeiffer starts discovering clues that her husband may actually be a murderer. What loses "What Lies Beneath" points is the shamless director (Robert Zemickis) gives his ending away during the trailer. Bad mistake, since we want to find that out on our own time. NOMINATIONS (3): ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE Michelle Pfeiffer, SOUND, ORIGINAL SCORE.
